LONDON

The London Mayor is called Boris Johnson.

It has a population of 8,278,251 inhabitants.

It has 32 districts and many monuments such as Big Ben, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Royal Museums.

Places that you know well: Buckingham Palace and the National Gallery.

It also has many road transports,rail and air transports.

People who live in London are called Londonians. London neighborhoods are famous : Bloomsbery, Mayfair, White Chapel, the City and the new financial district called the Isle of Dogs.

Their favorite music is pop rock.
The city of Westminster in the West-End includes

The tower of London

The tower of London is a historic fortress located on the north side of the Thames in London in England. Its construction began towards the end of the year 1066 in the framework of the Norman style. The White Tower which gave its name to the whole, was buit by William the Conqueror in 1078. It was considered as a symbol of the oppression inflicted by a London leading class. The castle was used as a prison, although this is not its primary role. The tower served as an armory, treasury and it received the royal menagerie, royal mint and the public archive houses of the British crown jewels. Despite its lingering reputation as a place of torture and death, only seven people were excuted in the tower before the 20^th century. The execution was generally carried on Tower Hill. Lady Jane Grey was executed on February 12,1554. Marie I imprisoned her sister Elizabeth, the future Elizabeth I in the tower. Henrie VIII had two of his wives executed .

CIRCUS

The circus in England

The circus was born in 1770 in London, England.

This is Philip Astley, (1742-1814) who had the idea of organizing a horse show on a round track.

When you went to the circus, it was to see horses and equestrian acrobatics.

In 1830 they began to add to horse show other animals (like lions) on the track.

They invented aerial acrobatics on the trapeze .

In the first circuses, the program included therefore special shows.

In 1886, France offered the Statue of Liberty to the USA for their friendship.

The creator of the statue is Bartholdi.

The Statue of Libety represents the centenary of the independence of the United States.

It symbolizes freedom and a new life.

This is one of the seven wonders of the world.

It measures 92m, has 9.354 steps and 5million visitors a year. It weighs 225 tons.

There are several replicas of the Statue of Liberty.

On the book it's written "in July 1776".

This date corresponds to the American independence.

The president has four occupations: lawyer, professor, president and social worker. 

His nationality is American.

He had his diploma in Harvard and Columbia.

His wife is Michelle Obama and their daughters are Malia 14 and Sasha 11 years old. He was elected in 2008 and became president on January the 20th, 2009.
