The
circus in England
The
circus was born in 1770 in London, England.
This
is Philip Astley, (1742-1814) who had the idea of
organizing a horse show on a round track.
When
you went to the circus, it was to see horses and equestrian
acrobatics.
In
1830 they began to add to horse show other animals (like lions) on
the track.
They
invented aerial acrobatics on the trapeze
.
In
the first circuses, the program included therefore special shows.
The
training of wild animals, especially lions, gradually completed the
show, and it became increasingly more varied.
It
then passed from a refined form of circus to a more popular form.
