Maple
Syrup
Among
the many species of maple trees, three are used for the production of
maple syrup: black maple (Acer nigrum) and sugar maple (Acer
saccharum), but also red maple (Acer rubrum) in a lesser proportion.
Maple
syrup is drilled from a tree and harvested because the sap flows in a
bucket, it is then placed in a machine called the still. Maple syrup,
or "sap" is a syrup made from the sap.
Maple
syrup is produced in the forests of northeastern America (especially
in Quebec but also in Ontario, the Maritime provinces of Canada and
New England) and is sold today throughout the world, including Japan
(main importer).
