Call Me Maybe after coming third in the
fifth season of Canadian Idol in 2007.
2008-2011
June
12, 2008, Carly
released her first single, a cover of the American singer John Denver
Sunshine On My Shoulders.
This is the only song which is taken from her first studio album. In
August 2008, Carly Rae
Jepsen announced on her myspace page
that the title of her album was called Tug
of War and released on September 30, 2008.
In May 2009, she released her second single and video Bucket
Sour Candy,
a duet with Josh Ramsay from the
Canadian pop rock group Marianas Trench.
Josh Ramsay has also helped her to produce the song Call
Me Maybe. All video clips were
filmed by Ben Knechtel. During the spring of 2009, she toured
throughout Western Canada with Marianas
Trench and Shiloh.
Then she left on a tour across the country with Marianas
Trench, The New
Cities and Mission
District.

was out on September 20, 2011, produced by Josh Ramsay and
co-written by Jepsen, Ramsay and Tavish Crowe, Call
Me Maybe
is the first single to be number one of the digital sales by a
Canadian artist since Justin
Bieber's
Baby
in January
2010.
In
February
2012,
she signed to the label School Boy Records with Justin Bieber's
manager, Scooter Braun. Her first EP, Curiosity,
was released on February 14, 2012. It is produced by Josh Ramsay and
Ryan Stewart
