U2 is an Irish rock band formed in 1976 in Dublin. It consists of Bono (Paul Hewson) for vocals, The Edge (David Evans) for the guitar, piano and vocals, Adam Clayton for the bass and Larry Mullen Jr. For the drums.
Since the 1980s, U2 has emerged as a major group in the world. Among his albums War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop, All That You Can not Leave Behind.
The Singles that have hit the first places of the charts are for instance Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day, Pride (In the Name of Love), With Or Without You, I Still Have not Found What I'm Looking For, Where The Streets Have No Name, Desire, One, Mysterious Ways , Beautiful Day, Vertigo.
Since the mid-1980s, the group has advocated for human rights and Bono was nominated for the Nobel peace prize.
They are an example of a successful global group.
U2 has sold 170 million albums (June 2009) and has also won 22 Grammy Awards. U2 is ranked number 22 in the list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time according to the magazine Rolling Stone.
in 2003 and 2005. they also promoted Amnesty International during one of their concerts. Group members also became "ambassadors of conscience" of the organization in 2005. In December 2005, Bono was named "Personality of the Year 2005" by Time Magazine for his fight for Africa.
No Line On The Horizon is the latest album from U2. It was published in February 2009 and marked the return of the group after almost 5 years of absence.
