CITIES

The largest cities in Canada

Toronto: Canada's largest city and financial center, the city is known for its variety of ethnic and cultural communities. Mainly populated by descendants of Europeans (the British, Italian and Portuguese), Toronto has large communities of ethnic groups from Asia (China, India, Korea, Pakistan, Philippines) and a large black community essentially Caribbean. More than 40% of the population of Toronto is the result of recent immigration.

Montreal: The second largest French speaking city in the world. Less multicultural than Toronto, three-quarters of its population is of European origin (British Isles, French Quebec, Italian). The last quarter is the multicultural aspect of Quebec and includes many North Africans, Haitians and Asians from China and Vietnam .

Vancouver: One third of the population of Vancouver is Asian with origins both modest and very wealthy (Hong Kong). The rest of the population is mainly from the British Isles. Over 37% of the population of the city is derived from recent immigration in Canada, the largest in Western Canada, it's in the province of British Columbia. It was named in 1886 in honor of the British Navy captain George Vancouver who explored the area in the late eighteenth century. It hosted from the 12th to the 28th of February 2010 the 21st Winter Olympic Games.
