The poutine

Poutine is a quite versatile Quebec recipe. It can be served as an accompaniment (with hotdogs and burgers, for example) or as a main dish. It is also very popular after a hangover to settle the stomach back in place.
It's easy

For 2 people:
5 medium sized potatoes (for French fries)
1 packet of BBQ sauce or other gravy (or spicy or sweet)
cheese curds, hard to find in Europe, put some grated cheddar or mozzarella instead.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Waiting: 0 min
Total Time: 25 min
For medium-sized fries preferably use two batches following the Belgian fashion. The first at 160-170 ° C and the second (2 minutes) at 180-190 ° C.
In the same time, prepare the sauce by following the cooking instructions on the package.
In a plate, pour the sauce over the fries. Depending on whether you prefer your cheese raw or melted a little (possible with real cheese curds), add the cheese sauce before or after.

The apple crumble with maple syrup

6 apples, peeled, sliced
2/3 cup (170 ml) maple syrup
3/4 cup (190 ml) flour
3/4 cup (190 ml) oatmeal
1/2 cup (125 mL) brown sugar
salt
1/2 cup (125 mL) butter

Arrange apples in a square dish of 8 inches (20 cm).

Pour the syrup over the apples.

Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, salt and butter until the mixture has the consistency of breadcrumbs.

Bake for 35 minutes at 375 ° F (190 ° C). Do not cover.
Spread the first puff at the bottom of a pie pan. Prick the bottom with a fork.

Peel and coarsely chop the apples and place on the pastry.
Sprinkle generously with sugar and vanilla sugar. Finally, sprinkle with rum.
Covering the preparation of the second pastry and seal the edges.
Make a hole in the center for cooking. Sprinkle with brown sugar and bake for 30 minutes at 180 ° C (gas mark 6).
